DOUBLES FOCUS
She began focusing on doubles in 2020 when she joined the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad, India, and was paired with Gayatri Gopichand Pullela. "I used to play singles and doubles but when I shifted to Gopichand Academy in January 2020, Gayatri too had started playing doubles, so something clicked and we started playing together. I'm concentrating more on doubles right now [speaking in 2021] in terms of career goals and the aim is to try and qualify for the next Olympics in 2024." (sportskeeda, 23 Jul 2022; olympics, 10 May 2022; onmanorama, 23 Apr 2022; espn男子棍术, 20 Mar 2022; newindianexpress男子棍术, 24 Jan 2021)

EARLY DAYS
Her father Jolly Mathew, who was a physical education teacher, set up an indoor court in the courtyard of their home in Kannur, India, when Treesa and her sister Maria took up badminton, as the sport was not popular in the area. "When I started out, hardly anyone played the sport back in my village. When my father started encouraging me and my sister to play badminton, a lot of people questioned him. Many suggested that it was of no use and that no one from our region would make a career out of it. But my father didn't pay heed to any of it and kept training us and offered his full support."
