He sustained a bicep tear in his left arm while competing at the 2019 World Military Games in Wuhan, People's Republic of China. He required surgery and was unable to compete at the 2020 Olympic Qualification Tournament in Amman, Jordan. He needed a second operation on his left arm after sustaining another injury at the 2021 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. He returned to training in March 2022.
