3x3 Basketball - Team Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan reached the quarterfinals at the 2018 Asian Games, where 3x3 basketball made its debut at the Games as an U23 competition. After an opening 21-12 win over Afghanistan, their tournament appeared to be in jeopardy with defeats to Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, the Kazakhstani team recovered to beat both Malaysia and Iraq to progress to the knockout stages. They were eliminated after a 17-13 defeat by eventual silver medallists the Republic of Korea in the last eight.

The Kazakhstani team competed at the U23 World Cup in 2019 and 2022. Having ranked 16th of 20 teams in 2019, they were unable to improve on that performance three years later, losing all four of their matches in Pool D to Germany, Serbia, Qatar, and Israel to place 18th out of 20.

At senior level, Kazakhstan have twice finished fourth at the Asia Cup [2017, 2019]. They did not advance that far at the competition in either 2022 or 2023, however, with their 2023 campaign ending at the quarterfinal stage following a 21-11 defeat to eventual champions Mongolia.
