General
Kazakhstan's U23s finished third in Pool C at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia after recording defeats to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Thailand and receiving a walkover victory against Maldives. They did not progress to the knockout stages and ended the tournament ranked 11th overall.
Kazakhstan have made one appearance at the U23 World Cup, in 2018 in Xi'an. They did not win a game at the tournament and failed to progress beyond the pool phase.
The senior Kazakhstani team competed at the five editions of the Asia Cup between 2017 and 2023. Their best performance at the tournament came in 2019 in Changsha, where victories over Thailand and Japan in the knockout stages set up a final against Australia. However, the Kazakhstanis were humbled 20-9 and had to settle for the runners-up position. Their performances in 2022 and 2023 dipped significantly and they did not reach the knockout rounds at either tournament.
