He opted not to undergo surgery and the injury did not prevent him from competing at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He then injured his knee during a training session but again decided to forgo surgery in order to continue competing. He competed at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, OR, United States of America, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, before undergoing surgery to treat both injuries in late 2022. ATHLETICS OVER CRICKET
He was a promising cricketer until he took up javelin, and he had to decide which sport to pursue. "Not becoming a cricketer was the best thing that happened to me. I wouldn't be in the Olympics otherwise. I know I have a natural talent for athletics and I'm grateful, but being a non-cricket athlete in Pakistan has challenges, like not getting the required resources and facilities."
