Saudi Arabia are making their fifth appearance at the Asian Games at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou. The team debuted at the Games in 1978 and recorded their highest ranking in 1994, when they placed seventh.

At their last Asian Games in 2014, they were knocked out in the qualifying round. The Saudi team beat India and Palestine in Incheon, but had suffered defeat in their first match against Kazakhstan and did not advance to the main group stage.

Between 1989 and 2022 Saudi Arabia appeared at nine editions of the Asia Cup. They played in consecutive third place matches in 1997 and 1999, first losing to the People's Republic of China before claiming third two years later with victory over Chinese Taipei. At the 2022 Asia Cup, they lost their three group phase matches to Indonesia, Australia, and Jordan.

The Saudi team have never featured at the World Cup or the Olympic Games.
