He began focusing on the K2 500m and K4 500m ahead of the 19th asian games as his main event, the K1 200m, was not included in the programme for the Games. "When I first started 500m training, I would paddle at full speed from the beginning, similar to a 200m race, but often experienced a drop in strength and fatigue towards the end. There is a training session where we paddle seven times, dividing it into three-minute intervals. Previously, in the first three-minute interval, I paddled at a speed of 15km/h, but the speed would drop to 12km/h in the final interval. Now [speaking in 2023] I can maintain a consistent speed of 13km/h from the first interval to the last interval." (donga, 24 Jun 2023)
