RIO 2016
When he umpired at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he became the first Singaporean official to umpire at the Games since John Martens at the 1972 edition in Munich. (tnp, 15 Jun 2016)

GETTING STARTED
He broke his arm while he was a member of the Singapore U21 hockey team and was unable to play for three months, in which time he umpired his first match. "After one month, I got really bored and started to go to national training sessions to pick up balls, lay cones and run with the team to keep myself fit. One day there was a friendly between the senior team and us, the juniors. The coach threw me a whistle and the rest is history." (tnp, 15 Jun 2016)
