Team Overview
General
The Philippines are making their first appearance at the Asian Games since 1974, and their fifth in total. They have not made a serious impression on the tournament so far, finishing fourth out of five teams on their debut in 1958 and failing to progress from the preliminary round in 1962, 1966, and 1974.
The Filipino team won silver at the 2019 South East Asian Games, making it all the way to the final as hosts of the event before losing in straight sets to Indonesia. That was a significant improvement from their performances at the South East Asian Games in 2015 and 2017, when they did not progress past the preliminary round.
The Philippines competed at the Asian championship on six occasions between 1975 and 2009.
