After winning a bronze medal in the non-Olympic 70kg class at the 2019 World Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, he was advised by Iranian national team coaches to switch to the 74kg class to allow himself the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Games. He did not appear at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but he has continued to compete in the 74kg category. "I am aiming to adjust my physical strength and fitness to this weight [speaking in 2022].
