Seoul, Korea: Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae has been announced as South Korea's top amateur athlete of 2014, reports Yonhap News in Seoul. The 20-year-old Son, one of the country's most visible athletes, was named Athlete of the Year at the annual Coca-Cola Sports Awards, which has been honoring amateur athletes since 1995.

Son was an ambassador for the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 and won the gold medal in the individual all-around category after taking the bronze in the 16th Asian Games at Guangzhou 2010.
